Cable & Wireless, Dominica welcomes new CEO

     Aftertwo years at the helm of Cable & Wirless, Dominica, CEO Collin James is being transferred to St.Lucia. He is being replaced by Nabeel Bhatti who was acting Vice President for networks and opeartions at Cable & Wirless St.Lucia.

Effective February 7, 2006, Cable & wireless Dominica Ltd (C&W) will have a new CEO.  That announcement was made public today at a press conference at the company’s headquarters in Roseau.  Executive Vice President, C&W East Paul Aspin explained that Collin James, who has been CEO in Dominica for the last two years, has been transferred to St.Lucia and will be replaced by Nabeel Bhatti, who was acting vice president for networks and operations, within the cable & wireless St.Lucia Operations.  Mr. Bhatti is a native of Lincoln, in the East of London, and has been with the company for fourteen years. 

James in his farewell note said, “I will always remember the people, and your energy and commitment.  My sincerest hope is that the people whom I have worked with will feel enthusiastic about working for C&W and would have grown both personally and professionally as a result of our working together.  I will leave Dominica, but I will be back; I will always be a Domtiguan.”

James said Cable & Wireless was confident that Bhatti’s proven success as a leader would help the company achieve its objectives of maintaining its reputable status as the premier telecommunications company.  “He will build on the groundwork that has been integral in developing the business over the last few years.  His breadth of financial expertise combined with his leadership will make this smooth transition for us all.  He brings to the role a very strong blend of skills and experience that encompasses leadership in many parts of the globe,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the new CEO stated that his first order of business would be to maintain the financial viability of the company.  Bhatti also identified people development, focus on the growing mobile industry, improvement of the Cable & Wireless image and a strong customer focus as other key priorities of his leadership at the helm of the Cable & wireless Dominica operations.
