Come June 30th 2006, Dominica will be ready to join the CARICOM Single Market (CSM). So says Trade Officer Floyd Capitolin, speaking on the state owned DBS radio Monday morning. “In comparison to the other countries within CARICOM,” says Capitolin, “ Dominica is one of the most CSME ready countries in relation to the removal of restrictions. Mr. Capitolin further stated that, “Dominica has already amended seven of its laws to remove restrictions to accommodate the move.”
Dominica has already introduced CARICOM passports, as part of its move towards the regional integration move, but still has to amend four outstanding pieces of legislation to fully accommodate the process
The OECS sub-regional grouping (Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts/Nevis, Saint Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines) have agreed to complete all arrangements and join the CARICOM Single Market (CSM) by June 30, 2006.
