Nature Fresh launches new line of products

Nature Fresh, a small agro-processing company based in Wesley and best known for its pioneering work in bottled coconut water and coconut oil, on Tuesday launched five new products targeting the health food sector. The new line of herbal teas and food supplement expanded the three-year old company’s range of healthy Caribbean food offerings to seven. The launching was held at the Garraway Hotel.

The new line of all-natural health foods includes the Lemon Grass Herbal tea, Noni Herbal tea, the Lemon-Ginger Fizz iced tea, the Noni iced teas, and the Hi-Co-Vi supplement. “Every product” says Dr. Gail Defoe, one of the principals of the company, “is targeted with a health consciousness behind it.” Dr. Defoe, who by training is a pathologist and one of the best known and sought after in Canada, says teas are full of antioxidants and are very healthy. Anti-oxidants are substances which neutralize and breaks down molecules in the body thus allowing it to function longer. She said that the Lemon Grass teas contain anti-microbial and anti-fungal agents which help to normalize blood pressure and lower temperature. The Hi-Co-Vi, a coconut milk and seamoss-based supplement, enhances the immune system and is recommended for use by convalescents and people suffering with cancer. Noni, known as the ‘magic fruit’ has long been reputed to maintain general wellbeing and good health.

During the launching guests and patrons were treated to samples of the full range of teas and products. Overwhelmingly, they rated the products as ‘excellent and first class.’ “This is as good as anything I have tasted,” said one tea aficionado. The full range of the new product offerings are already at the major supermarkets in Dominica. And consumers should soon be able to source the products from retail outlets throughout the island. Nature Fresh however has its sights set on promoting and marketing its line of healthy Caribbean foods throughout the region.
