The PDM is deeply concerned about the recent expulsion of Dominican-born and
regionally highly respected veteran broadcaster and journalist, Lennox Linton,
by the government of Antigua and Barbuda.
While the specific reasons for the expulsion have not been disclosed, Mr.
Linton has long been known for his exercise to the fullest of the right to
freedom of expression, information and of the Press enshrined in various
regional institutions, including that of Antigua and Barbuda.
We would hope that there is no connection at all between the expulsion and his
exercise of those rights.
Further, the PDM wishes to draw attention to the principle of the free movement
of media persons throughout CARICOM. And we urge regional governments to pay
strict attention, rather than lip service, to this principle.
