According to a press release issued today by the International Student Services Department of the university, Anika Royer was named Most Outstanding Business Student. Samantha Julien was named Most Outstanding International Studies student. Trudy Christian was inducted into both Alpha Chi and Mortar Board senior honor societies. Clide Cadette, Shanell Telemaque, Jeanine Christian, Tabitha Jerome, and Jeanne Abraham were all inducted into Mortar Board. Abraham was also inducted into Delta Mu Delta business honor society, as was Yuri Jones, Carissa Georges, Alda Bedminister, and Zahra Charles. Dinah St. Jean was inducted into Gamma Sigma Epsilon for chemistry and Deborah Anthony into Phi Alpha for social work. According to the release, Midwestern State University has also been recognized as number one in Consumer’s Digest Best Values in Public Colleges and Universities. The magazine lists the top 100 best values based on attributes that validate or define the institutions’ academic prowess factored against annual cost of tuition and room-and-board. The university, which currently hosts over 250 Caribbean students and have recruited over 800 in the past thirteen years, was chosen from approximately 3,800 U.S. schools. Twenty new Dominican students have also been awarded tuition assistance packages and scholarships to attend Midwestern State University starting in August 2007.
