Dominicans graduate with honours
Dominican students continue to excel at Midwestern State University earning top awards. Zwena Tabia Trotter earned the elite magna cum laude graduating with a bachelor of business administration at the univeristy's May 13th commencement excercises.
Dominican student, Zwena Tabia Trotter, earned the elite magna cum laude honors graduating with a bachelor of business administration, at Midwestern State University’s commencement exercises on May 13th. Trotter was one of seven Dominicans among the 32 Caribbean students, who marched along with the university’s 700 graduates.
Zeva Alcendor earned cum laude honors with a degree in mathematics. The Grand Bay native was the only female of color to earn a degree in that field this year. Dion George of Salisbury also earned a master of arts in political science defending a thesis on structural adjustment programs of the IMF based on an intense case study of the Dominica experience. George also served as valedictorian for the Caribbean Students Organization commencement dinner attended by over 400 persons.
The other graduates earning bachelor’s degrees are Joanna Casimir, biology; Techar Cuffy, psychology; Mandisa Ducreay, social work; Miguel Marie, economics; and Amy Rapha earned the associates degree in radiology and will continue on to the bachelor’s degree.
Twelve new students will be accepted to Midwestern State University this August along with 40 others from the Eastern Caribbean this August. Almost 80 Dominicans are currently attending Midwestern State University among the 250 from the Eastern Caribbean
