MWSU offers scholarships and tuition assistance to Dominicans
Dominicans wishing to secure scholarships to study in the US will be given an opportunity to do so when officials and alumni from the Midwestern State University (MWSU) host recruitment and orientation meetings for interested persons on Wednesday 20th June at 3:00 pm at the Public Service Training Center.
Dr. Randy Glean, Director of International Student Services at MWSU will address and advise prospective students on the various academic programmes and scholarship opportunities available to Caribbean students at the University.
On average, about 20 Dominicans are granted scholarships and tuition assistance packages to study at the university annually. This fall alone, over twenty new Dominican students will be awarded tuition assistance packages and scholarships to attend MWSU.
Since 1993, Midwestern State University, through its world-class Caribbean Recruitment Program has enrolled almost 800 students from the OECS and graduated about 500. Over 75 Dominicans have already graduated from the university.
Meanwhile the Alumni chapter of the Caribbean Student Organization (Caribbean students at MWSU) will use the opportunity to present a deserving Dominican primary school student a CARP scholarship. The CARP scholarship – the Caribbean Alumni for Regional Progress – is an annual scholarship awarded to deserving students in the OECS member states to assist with their high school tuition and other expenses.
This will be the third time that such a scholarship would be awarded in Dominica.
