More scholarships for Dominicans to study in the US
Dominicans wishing to access scholarships to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies in the US will be given an opportunity to do so when the Midwestern State University (MWSU) and Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) host a joint public forum for prospective students on Wednesday February 6th 2008.
Dr. Randy Glean, Director of International Services at MWSU along with the Vice President of that University, Dr. Robert Clark, and Dr. Daniel Norton, Director of International Programs at SFA will meet and interview persons wishing to take advantage of these scholarships and academic opportunities.
The Ash Wednesday meeting to be convened at the main conference room of the Public Service Training Center will begin promptly at 4:00pm.
Tuition scholarships will be offered to students to pursue both undergraduate and graduate degrees across a range of disciplines including Business Administration, Business and Computer Information Systems, Nursing, Medicine, Law, Computer and Mechanical Engineering and Teacher Education.
For the last fifteen years,Midwestern State University, through its Caribbean Recruitment Program has been offering tuition scholarships to students within the OECS. This Fall, the university will make available to Dominica over twenty (20) scholarships. Additional scholarships will also be provided for the Spring semester. To date, MWSU, through its world-class Caribbean Recruitment Program has enrolled over 900 students from the OECS and has graduated about 500. Over 100 Dominicans have already graduated from the university.
Stephen F. Austin State University, having matriculated a number of Caribbean students over the last five years is looking to increase its scholarship offerings to Dominica and will make available a number of scholarships to prospective Dominican students for the Fall and Spring semesters.
While on Island both universities will also hold discussions with government and education officials as well as with their respective alumni as they seek to forge closer relationships with the government and college.
