Charles Savarin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Labor, left the state today to attend the 6th meeting of Caribbean Labour Ministers in Trinidad & Tobago. A number of important matters including the programmes of the ILO in the region and significant development in labour markets and ministries in the respective regions and countries including ratification of the ILO conventions and changes in new legislations are expected to be discussed. The ministers will also look at an overview of international trends in labour migration and a quantitative overview of intra-regional migration. In light of the fact that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has a lead responsibility for labour including intra-community movement of skills within CARICOM, Mr. Savarin will chair a session on intra-community movement of skills. Following the meeting of Caribbean Labour Ministers, Mr Savarin will travel to St.Lucia to attend the 23rd meeting of the Council of Trade and Economic Development set for May 18th.
