DAEC calls on government to reject gay tourism
At various times and through sundry means, evangelical, religious and secular voices have been raised against the practices and apparent acceptance of homosexuality within our nation. This acceptance has been predicated on the seeming “rights and preferences” of individuals who flagrantly display such a practice to the world.
Where in times past men and women sought to hide and ensure their practices of homosexual behaviour and even bi-sexual acts remained a secret, now, because of the growing perversity of man, such acts have been turned into a lifestyle and the world is being asked to accept it.
Have we even stopped and wondered why it was hidden and considered a thing of shame to be done in the dark? It is because man has always known that it was and still is wrong in God’s eyes. It is an abomination to him and a stench to his nostrils. Romans 1 and verse 32 confirms it this way “…who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death…”
Man knows the commandment of God and His commandments stand – His word does not lie! It is because of the lost of man [Rom 1:24 cfc], whom he has made a “little lower than his angels” that they prefer to behave lower than the very animals over which God has given them dominion!
At the government level, much representation has been made, as recently as November/December 2005; and while the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches acknowledges the reasons proffered and the need for the powers that be to seek to be politically correct, God’s judgment does not require man’s approval; but God desires man’s obedience to His word. When, at the national level, we seek to make men comfortable for economic gain, we are in fact saying we do not mind what they do, as long as we profit from it! The consequences are more than we can imagine!
We say therefore, take heed Dominica! God is a merciful God but he also is a God who will not always strive with man [Gen 6:3]. Dominica accepts it when the men of God pray for the good of the land and prophesy prosperity, but turns a deaf ear when these same men of God declare the warning and judgment of God!
When the Lord sent Jonah to warn the nation Nineveh, God dealt with his disobedience, but the greater lesson was that when the King heard the Judgment of God against his nation and the call to repent, he immediately heeded and put on sackcloth and ashes and called his people to join him in going before the Lord in repentance. An entire nation was saved. The King did not seek to be politically correct!
Dominica let us open our eyes! Now, as never before in our country, we are experiencing as upsurge of violence against the people we are seeking to attract to our shores, to enjoy our island’s beauty as well as augment our coffers. This upsurge might well spell collapse of the very industry we are so desperately seeking to preserve at any cost! We are now being called to deal with “knats while we swallow the camels” upon which we choke [Mt.23: 24]!
The Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches calls upon the Government of Dominica, the Ministry for Tourism in particular, and all Dominica, to stand and loudly say NO to any form of tourism that accepts the homosexual lifestyle; NO to homosexuality in our land; NO to such disregard for our children, our nation, our people!
